Maria Montessori was an Italian doctor and educator. She created a system of raising children based on supporting creativity and genuine energy.
The Montessori system develops a child’s full potential at all levels through play. This is possible if the environment surrounding a child is friendly. A child’s room is undoubtedly such a place.
According to Maria Montessori’s concept, it is most significant to allow a child to move around freely and choose between toys (or, as she called them, ‘aids’) as well as to ensure order, simplicity and safety.
All items, toys or clothes should be within reach of a child’s hand or eyesight. This way, the child does not need the assistance of parents or guardians in choosing an activity, but only their companionship in an exciting game.
The colours are not dominant – rather, they are gentle, neutral and calm.
What is worth paying special attention to are the natural materials of which the toys and furniture are made.
A Montessori bed is not only a place to sleep, but also a space for creative play and relaxation. Most importantly, it is low enough to allow the child to move between the bed and the floor independently and safely.
Owing to its unique shape, the bed becomes a playground of infinite possibilities and a space that can be freely arranged.
